HONG KONG: While the array of new technologies launched at the Hong Kong Electronics Fair this week may have left trade visitors wanting more, what was on show in the way of enhanced features still saw buyers reach for their cheque books.

Current.com.au spoke to Crest Electronics managing director, Dirk Oerlitz, who said: “It was pleasing to see the manufacturers doing much more than ever to bring products other than ‘me too’ offerings for buyers to consider at this Fair.

“We were pleased to see the way a number of suppliers had embraced Bluetooth technology and actually thought of incorporating that into products which are outside the square.”

Asked if Crest Electronics had signed any new agreements with suppliers, Oerlitz said, “Yes, we have managed to source some interesting new products and are extremely positive about the opportunities these can bring to Crest.”

Another Australian buyer, who preferred not to be named, was also satisfied with the array of new products on show, and how suppliers looked to add features to a number of products they manufacture rather than cloning a competitor’s.

The buyer said he had seen numerous digital photo frames on offer providing an alarm clock and calendar functions, MP3 and MP4 player able to accept SD, XD and Compact Flash cards at under US$40.
