SYDNEY: Sony Australia has announced two new additions to its popular range of Cyber-shot W Series digital cameras, the DSCW35 (RRP $399) and DSCW55 (RRP $449).

“With digital cameras more popular than ever, and many households wanting more than one or looking to upgrade, simplicity for beginners through to sophisticated users is paramount,” said Sony Australia group manager – digital imaging, Yasunari Nishioka.

“Superior technology has been built-in to the W35 and W55 to remove any complexity from taking photos, making them the perfect addition to any snapping family.”

With 7.2 mega-pixels, 3x optical zoom, and Carl Zeiss® Vario Tessar lens, the W35 and W55 capture impressive images, with high quality colour reproduction and minimal distortion in the finished image.

Both models feature an optical viewfinder as an alternative to the 2-inch LCD screen, with the W55 offers an even bigger picture on its 2.5-inch LCD screen.

Removing common confusion surrounding the different icons that appear on the camera and the different shooting modes available, Cyber-shot’s Menu Guidance offers a brief description of functions and settings, helping the user make adjustments to the camera for the perfect shot.

Menu Guidance also reports on the most appropriate print size and number of shots available with remaining memory, Clear RAW NR image processing technology included in the new models suppress picture noise for clearer, more natural images, while setting the user-friendly Mode Dial to High Sensitivity (REI)1 boosts the maximum sensitivity of both cameras to ISO1000, reducing picture blur.

The W35 and W55 both feature 56MB of internal memory and also provide Memory Stick compatibility. In addition, the MPEG Movie VX Fine capabilities of both cameras records movie footage in 640 x 480 resolution at 30 frames per second with audio.

Optional Sony accessories for Cyber-shot W Series digital still cameras include 1GB Memory Stick PRO Duo (RRP $69.95), rechargeable Lithium Ion Battery (RRP $89.95), Splash-proof sports pack (RRP $199) and a white or black leather case (RRP $69.95).
