SYDNEY: LG has named Ingram Micro as the latest distributor to join its ranks in the Australian market, as part of a global initiative to increase it notebook channel sales.

LG national sales manager – IT, Charlie Harb, told ARNnet that the local appointment of Ingram Micro will complete the vendor’s global partnership with the distributor.

“This appointment will further strengthen our position in the Australian market. Ingram dominates in the market and will help us grow our notebook business,” said Harb.

“It’s full steam ahead for us – this is a positive start to the year,” he said.

Ingram Micro will now receive full access to LG’s product portfolio, with an increased focus on the LG notebook and LCD monitor lines.

It has been suggested that LG was looking to strengthen its sales in the SMB and corporate markets, while also increasing sales in commercial and government sectors.

According to Harb, LG is branching into widescreen LCD monitors and had also recently launched a range of notebooks supporting the new Windows Vista operating system, released this month.

LG will retain its current distributor line-up of Bluechip Infotech, Synnex, TodayTech, Dicker Data, Leader, Edsys, and Galas Electronics.
