SYDNEY: Canon today announced an update to its popular entry-level PowerShot range, launching two new models targeting first-time and aspiring photographers.

The new 5.0 megapixel PowerShot A450 (RRP $199) will replace the PowerShot A430, and features Canon’s Digic II image processor, a 3.2x optical zoom lens and a 2-inch LCD screen.

According to Canon, the A450 “enables first-time photographers to review and reproduce images up to A3 size with ease”.

The 7.1 megaipxel A550 (RRP $279) will replace the A530, and has been designed for beginner photographers looking to enhance their creative skills. The A550 boasts a 4.0x optical zoom lens and the Digic II image processor.

“Canon is constantly improving on our range of digital still cameras to suit the needs and growing interests of our users. These two new Canon PowerShot models offer our aspiring photographers Canon quality with great features at an accessible price,” said Canon Australia product manager – Consumer Imaging Products Group, Chris Kearney.

Both models are available this month through Canon dealers nationally.
