SYDNEY: Gerry Harvey personally sold the first copy of Windows Vista in Australia at the Harvey Norman Alexandria store in Sydney last night at 12:01am to William Tsang of Redfern, who received a copy of Vista Ultimate signed by Bill Gates.
Microsoft claims over 200 shoppers attended the midnight launch, with many more at 43 other Harvey Norman Computer stores across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, which also opened their doors late last night to queues of eager buyers.
“Windows Vista is the most important release of Windows that Microsoft has ever delivered,” said Microsoft Australia’s newly-appointed managing director, Tracey Fellows.
“Australians are great technology adopters and we are proud to have worked with Harvey Norman to give Australians the opportunity to be among the first in the world to buy copies of Windows Vista at retail,” she said.
