CONNECTICUT, USA: Hair care and small appliance manufacturer, Conair Corporation, has bought Franzus Company LLC, a travel accessories company that also deals in personal care.

“Our latest acquisition is an ideal addition to the Conair family of products. Established in 1970, the Connecticut based Franzus Company LLC, is the leading purveyor of travel related accessories in North America, under the Franzus and TravelSmart brands,” said a statement on Conair’s corporate website.

Franzus products are sold in the USA in mass merchants, airport shops and chemists, and include a palm-sized hair dryer, palm-sized garment steamer and chiropractic inflatable neck rest, all developed specifically for the traveller.

“Conair will use its heritage appliance expertise to expand the Franzus product lines. Plans to extend the market into Europe, where Conair is already the market leader in hair care appliances under its BaByliss brand, will further increase Conair’s leadership position.

“We are pleased to welcome Franzus to the Conair family and to provide the brand with expanded worldwide distribution opportunity,” said the statement.

According to Conair Australia’s marketing manager, Peter Brewer, the acquisition won’t affect the Australian business.
“Conair operates many different business units through the world, some of which are only specific to certain regions,” he said.

Conair distributes VS Sassoon personal care, Cuisinart kitchen and Weight Watchers personal scales products in Australia.
