SYDNEY: Sony will roll-out dedicated point of sale materials to support the launch of its first range of Cyber-shot digital still cameras featuring touch-screen LCDs, which will go on sale in key stores nationally tomorrow.

The new Cyber-shot 7.2 megapixel DSCT50 (RRP $699) and 10.1 megapixel DSCN2 (RRP $749) both feature a 3.0-inch touch-screen LCD, and will be promoted by Sony in-store over the Christmas sales period.

Point of sale material promoting the new models will include A2 and A5 posters, leaflets, countercards, shelf strippers and floor stackers.

Sony claims the touch-screen function simplifies the user interface.

“Improving the photography experience through innovative features incorporated into Cyber-shot cameras is what Sony strives for,” said Sony Australia senior product manager, Marcus Cornish.

“The new touch-screen T50 and N2 cameras accomplish this by simplifying digital still camera functionality and providing a wider range of photography and on-camera options.”

The T50 features a Carl Zeiss Tessar lens with 3x optical zoom, Super SteadyShot optical image stabilizer and Clear RAW noise reduction which reduces visible image noise when shooting with high ISO settings in low light.

The N2 boasts 10.1 megapixel resolution, 3x optical lens and a slideshow function with music.

Both models feature touch-screen specific functionality such as the Paint Pen mode, which allows users to draw, paint or write on the photo via the LCD screen.
