SYDNEY: Sony has released its Walkman S200 mp3 player in Australia on-time despite rumours of a potential launch delay after the product release was postponed in Japan.

The splash-proof S200 Series, available in 1GB NW-S203F (RRP $249) and 2GB NW-S205F (RRP $299), faced launch delays in Japan after the malfunction of an unidentified part of product.

At the time a Sony spokesperson reassured current.com.au that a late September release date in Australia remained for the product.

The latest addition to the Walkman range, the S200 features unique capabilities which see the product able to recognise when a user is running or walking and adjust the soundtrack accordingly.

Sony GSensor technology also allows the mp3 player to be used as a pedometer displaying total calories burnt through entering information such as height, weight and age.

“The S200 Series Walkman is an intelligent device which supports you when running or walking and plays the appropriate type of music selected for each pace. It’s tailored to suit anyone’s individual sports training needs and music tastes,” said Sony Australia product manager – personal audio, Suzanna Gan.
