MELBOURNE: The Good Guys issued a statement this morning announcing that it has appointed Paul Malcolm as category manager – digital cameras, camcorders, mp3 and audio, replacing Tim Henry who will join Aldi as an AV buyer.

Prior to joining The Good Guys, Malcolm spent almost 18 years working for Michael’s Camera Video Digital store in Melbourne’s CBD, which is a member of the Narta group. In his role at Michael’s Camera, Malcolm was general manager – purchasing and marketing.

"As you may be aware I am leaving TGG at the end of this week and Paul’s specialist skills will ensure that the transition will be extremely smooth," Henry said in a statement to suppliers.

"By the end of this week, we will jointly be providing the Category Captains with the catalogue and core ranges plans for October, November and December. I am sure you will all make Paul feel extremely welcome. Thanks for your support and you never know, we just might do business again sometime in the future."

Malcolm told Current.com.au he enjoyed his time working for Michael’s Camera.

"Michael’s is a very strong company and a very goos family business."

Malcolm said the move to The Good Guys was not planned as he had already resigned from Michael’s Camera before taking the role.

"I just decided that I needed a change and I am hoping to align myself with a multi-site national retailer," Malcolm said.

"Tim had resigned and thankfully this position came up that required specialty camera knowledge."

Malcolm commenced working in his role on Monday 4 September.

Henry will commence his new role at Aldi in early October.
