MAROOCHYDORE: An $800 million commercial and residential development project in Maroochydore, Queensland known as the Wises Farm Project, has been boosted by the announcement of a $110 million Harvey Norman commercial development.
The new Harvey Norman store will cover approximately five hectares of land and will feature a 500 metre frontage as well as an underground car park for over 850 cars.
The group responsible for undertaking the $800 million project, Chardan Development Group, suggested that Harvey Norman will be the anchor tenant for the project and thought the commitment of the independent retailer should encourage further interest in the complex.
The Wises Farm Project is one of Australia’s largest community developments and will feature residential dwellings for up to 6,000 people across a 106 hectare site of which up to one-third is intended for use as parks and lakes.
It is hoped the new complex will reinvigorate the Maroochydore CBD, as several businesses in the area recently elected to move across to the Kawana Business Village, which includes the $86 million Home Central Kawana bulky goods complex expected to open this month.
The commercial section of the Wises Farm Project has already commenced construction, with a tentative 2008 opening date planned.
