SYDNEY: Canon Australia is conducting a new training initiative, which the company believes will help retailers improve their profits from the booming digital SLR cameras (D-SLR) category.

The new online training course, entitled ‘Better Photography with EOS’ aims to help retailers develop a greater understanding of the company’s range of D-SLR products.

Canon Australia product training manager – consumer imaging products group, Heidi Newbery, said Canon’s course explains the technology of Canon EOS and how these technologies benefit digital photographers.

“In today’s competitive marketplace, customers are often overwhelmed with product choices. This course aims to help our reseller partners achieve greater sales, by providing them with greater product knowledge and the expertise to sell D-SLR cameras.

“We want to provide resellers with the best possible product and technology training they can get. This course is designed to teach our reseller partners the basics of photography, how to sell Canon EOS and to increase their confidence, product knowledge and sales.

“By completing the new EOS course on the Canon eLearning Centre, retail staff will have fun, learn fast and sell more,” said Newbery.

The online training is free and retailers who complete the EOS training course can enter a competition to win a Canon EOS 30D D-SLR camera with an EF-S 18-55mm lens.

To enter, retailers must complete the four online EOS modules which include CMOS technology, flash, lenses and software, and describe in 25 words or less why ‘EOS means better photography’.

The competition is available online and closes on 22 September. Entries are open to Australian resident reseller staff registered with the Canon e-Learning Centre.
