SYDNEY: Last night four appliances were presented with 2006 Home Beautiful Awards at a cocktail party held at the Powerhouse Museum which concluded the Sydney Design 06 event.

In the small kitchen appliance category, two products were presented awards from a short list of four finalists.

The Breville Moda kettle won the award for best small kitchen appliance in the ‘value for money’ category. The other finalist in this category was the Nespresso Essenza EN90 coffee machine.

"Breville is thrilled with the result,” said Breville design director, Richard Hoare.

“The Moda Kettle was designed with a softer aesthetic and solid engineering solutions, providing good design at an affordable price.

This value kettle is generating interest from our international customers, and will undoubtedly prove to be an export success for Breville design".

The Krups Espresseria compact automatic coffee machine won the award for the best small kitchen appliance in the ‘luxury’ category. The other finalist in this category was the LG SolarDom benchtop oven.

In the home appliance category, two products were presented with awards from five finalists.

The LG ArtCool interchangeable air conditioner won the award for the best Home Appliance in the ‘value for money’ category. The other finalist in this category was the Tefal FV6050 One Minute Iron system.

The Kleenmaid VC700 upright vacuum cleaner won the award for the best home appliance in the ‘luxury’ category.

Other finalists in this category included the Bosch Logixx 9 New Dimension front load washing machine and the Smeg FAV32 refrigerator and freezer.

Other awards were presented to products in bathroom design, home office furniture, tabletop, lighting, textiles, outdoor furniture, seating, home accessories as well as bed and bedding design.
