SYDNEY: A Sydney based marketing company has been forced to recall an electrical outlet adaptor from sale in the Australian market after it was not properly approved.

A statement issued today by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has announced the ADPT Universal Adaptor by direct marketer – Innovations Direct.

The ADPT Universal Adaptor is an electrical outlet adaptor that includes power and pin configuration for sockets in Australia, Europe, America, Africa, Japan, China, Taiwan, the United Kingdom and New Zealand.

According to the ACCC, the adaptor has not been approved by the New South Wales Office of Fair Trading or an equivalent State or Federal body. The product does not carry the necessary market pursuant to the Electricity (Consumer Safety) Act of 2004.

Innovations Direct has confirmed it will write to all consumers who purchased the product and advise them of the recall.
