SYDNEY: Sony Australia has announced the release of the first Walkman-branded portable DVD player to enter the Australian market.

Sony Australia product manager – personal audio, Suzanna Gan, believes the release of the DVE7000S (RRP $429) will see Sony utilising the Walkman brand to achieve maximum impact upon release.

“Sony has taken its Walkman expertise in personal audio and fused it with superior display technologies, delivering a versatile entertainment device. By focusing on innovation for the mobile lifestyle, Sony’s Walkman portable DVD player merges essential home cinema technologies into an all-in-one travelling must-have,’ she said

The DVE7000S is 2.8cm thick and weighs in at 775 grams, it will feature a 7-inch screen, embedded lithium-ion battery with three to seven hours battery life, dual headphone jacks and is compatible with DivX, mp3 and jpeg formats, while also being able to playback DVD, DVD+-R/+-RW, DVD+/-R and dual layer discs.

“Compatibility and straightforward features have been major considerations in developing this easily transportable device. By offering numerous playback options and eliminating the need to download media applications, Sony’s DVD Walkman has brought a new meaning to quality, portable entertainment,” said Gan.

The Walkman portable DVD player will ship with a docking station, remote control, AC power adaptor, car adaptor (cigarette lighter), DVD Walkman slipcase and headphones, and is available now.
