SYDNEY: A local Samsung distributor has announced the launch of two new S Series models in its premium line of Digimax digital still cameras, the seven megapixel S700 and the 10 megapixel S1000.
“With the addition of the S700 and the S1000, we have bolstered our already strong and comprehensive range of digital still cameras. This, combined with the recent launch of our NV Series, enables us to deliver products that meet the needs of a diverse dealer and consumer base,” said Samsung Opto Electronics national marketing manager, Stewart Henderson.
According to Samsung Digimax distributor, Adeal, the new models will be available in Australia by October 2006, with both the S700 (RRP $US 249) and the S1000 (RRP $US 349) boasting a 2.4-inch LCD display and a 3x optical zoom in both still and movie modes.
The premium S1000 supports mpeg4 video format, for over one hour of VGA (640×480) recording, while the S700 supports mpeg video recording, with both models featuring built-in movie stabilisation technology to automatically detect and correct lateral and vertical camera movement caused by users’ unsteady hands.
S series users can also select and save a portion of a movie clip during playback and/or select a portion of a movie clip to be saved as a still image using the movie clip editing functions, while the Special Effects Hot Key provides easy access to color effect; highlight mode, which keeps the subject in sharp focus while putting the rest of the image into
soft focus; photo frame, giving the shooter nine different types of photo frames to shoot their subjects in; and composite shot, that allows the user to take two to four images and save them into a single file.
The Digimax S series also features a built-in image editing function, auto macro, copy-to-card function, voice recorder, one-touch playback, 16MB built-in memory and can add short ‘voice memos’ to pictures.
