SYDNEY: Conair Australia will continue to license the Vidal Sassoon brand for its range of personal care appliances, even though the brand’s owner – Procter & Gamble – is now a competitor in Australian after acquiring the Braun and Oral-B electrical business.

Conair Australia marketing manager, Peter Brewer, told current.com.au that Conair has a licensing agreement with Procter & Gamble for the Australian and Asian markets only.

“We will be keeping the Vidal Sasson license in Australia, in fact I think we have the license signed up for another 10 years,” he said.

In other global markets, Conair uses its own brand and the premium Babyliss brand on its electrical hair care products.

Conair distributes a range of Vidal Sassoon branded hair care appliances including the recently released Ionic Speed Styler hair dryer, Hot Sticks hair curlers and wet to dry hair straighteners.

Procter & Gamble discontinued its line of Vidal Sassoon ‘liquids’ or shampoos and conditioners two years ago to concentrate on its Pantene, Herbal Essences and Head & Shoulders hair care products.
