SYDNEY: Hewlett-Packard (HP) has partnered with digital lifestyle retailers Domayne, to encourage IT equipment recycling, by inviting consumers to take unwanted products from any manufacturer, to participating Domayne stores in NSW on Saturday, 8 July and Sunday, 9 of July.

Consumer’s who hand in unwanted IT products for environmentally sound recycling will be rewarded with a 25 per cent discount on new purchases of HP imaging and printing hardware (single/multifunction printers and supplies) and a 10 per cent discount on HP/Compaq desktop and notebook PCs.

HP will facilitate the recycling of the equipment collected where different materials, including plastics and metals are recovered and then used in the production of a range of new products.

According to HP environmental manager – south pacific, Annukka Sairanen the partnership with Domayne demonstrates HP’s commitment to reduce the environmental impact of the company’s products and services.

“HP’s mission is simple, provide best value technology products and services whilst working with the community to explore innovative recycling systems,” Sairanen said.

“This collaboration is designed to increase awareness about the importance of IT equipment recycling as a key environmental issue,” said Domayne general manager, Rodney Orrock.

“We are excited about partnering with HP and believe it will assist in providing an effective and convenient recycling program for consumers. Offering and supporting such an important environmental initiative such as this, not only benefits individuals but also the environment.”

“With this computer recycling initiative, HP and Domayne are making it far easier for the public to recycle their old computers” says Planet Ark Founder Jon Dee.

“From Planet Ark’s perspective, it’s vital that the public support this activity by dropping off their old and unused computers at their local participating Domayne store.”

HP’s recycling program operates globally in more than 40 countries, regions and territories and seeks to reduce the environmental impact of IT products, minimise waste going to landfills and help customers conveniently discard products in an environmentally sound fashion.

Seven Domayne stores have been selected in the Sydney Metropolitan region and three regional locations.  The participating stores include Domayne Alexandria, Auburn, Campbelltown, Caringbah, Liverpool, North Ryde, Penrith, Kotara, Warrawong and West Gosford.
