SYDNEY: Housewares International will officially lose its chairman, Bill Wavish, next month after recently accepting a position as executive chairman of the newly formed Myer organisation.
Housewares International is the publicly-listed parent company of Breville, Kambrook, Ronson and Goldair electrical appliances and is the Australian distributor of Philips small appliances.
In a statement released to the Australian Stock Exchange, Housewares International CEO, Joe Hersch, has recognised Wavish’s involvement in the company.
"I would like to thank Bill on behalf of the board for his tremendous contribution to the company over the last 16 months, in his capacity as both executive and non-executive chairman,” Hersch said.
At the meeting on 27 April, Wavish will tender his resignation as chairman and as a director of the company.
“I was delighted to receive the announcement that Bill would be taking up the post of executive chairman with Myer – a highly valued partner both for our electrical and homewares businesses,” Hersch said.
During his time at Housewares International, Wavish established the Breville Home concept where electrical and non-electrical products were sold under the Breville brand exclusively through Myer.
I have no doubt that Bill will make an outstanding contribution in his new role and I wish him every success for the future," Hersch said.
