A Harvey Norman furniture and electrical store in Sydney’s west has suffered millions of dollars of damage after a fire ripped through the building just before 8.00pm last night.

It took several hours for the 77 firefighters from 14 brigades to bring the blaze under control at the Harvey Norman store located in Blacktown Mega Centre. The centre was closed for several hours when the blaze erupted and no one was hurt.

The fire was believed to have begun in one of the offices of the building, and was reported at approximately 7:45pm (AEDT).

The blaze caused stock losses and damage to the building itself, however it is still unclear whether the building has been burnt beyond repair.
