Samsung teams up with Pandora music

To bring entertainment to the kitchen.

The Samsung Family Hub refrigerator will come pre-loaded with the Pandora music app for families to listen and enjoy music while in the kitchen or entertaining family and friends. This announcement builds on the partnership between Samsung and Pandora that was initiated in 2013, covering mobile devices, tablets, Blu-Ray and connected speakers.

Commenting on the partnership, Samsung Electronics Australia director of home appliances, Jeremy Senior said, “At Samsung Australia we are incredibly excited to deliver the Family Hub refrigerator that not only keeps your food fresh, but offers the innovative feature of a 21 inch touch screen.

“With this latest innovation, we have been able to offer our customers a range of applications to save them time and assist them with their busy lives. We have also been able to transform the way Australians entertain and enjoy time in the kitchen with Pandora music app pre-loaded on the Family Hub refrigerator. We are excited to partner with Pandora to give families the ability to enjoy their time in the kitchen more conveniently.”

A recent study from Sydney-based TNS market research firm shows that 3 in 4 Australians cook at home to entertain guests at least once a month, and 1 in 3 Australian consumers own more than one refrigerator.

Research from Pandora music found that 1 in 2 users listen to Pandora whilst cooking or eating at home and 42% of users listen to Pandora whilst entertainment or socialising with others.

Pandora director of business development partnerships, Rick Gleave, “Pandora was established 16 years ago but has only been available in Australia and New Zealand for four years. We have 320 million registered users. Every 30 days, we have 1.2 million people listening to Pandora.

“Australians listen to Pandora more than any other audio or music source with the average time spent listening per day at 2.5 hours, which is head of traditional radio and our competitor streaming services.

“Samsung is a key enabler of music in the home as consumers often stream their music through Samsung’s wireless speakers and Family Hub refrigerator at home. We are very excited and proud to be a pre-loaded partner for the connected Family Hub refrigerator. It is a native app, specifically designed for the refrigerator platform and the home user.”
