ILVE MD provides insights.

ILVE Australia managing director, Jamey Colbert has shared his predictions on kitchen trends and must-haves for the year.

  1. Steam ovens

“2016 was the year steam cooking started to become a prominent and integral part of day-to-day life and it looks like it’s going to be even more of a must-have in 2017.

“Steam ovens and combination steam ovens will be an even more must-have in 2017 as they become a key part of the kitchen planning process for health conscious consumers.”

  1. Streamlined design

“Kitchen design will become even more streamlined and minimalistic in 2017. Therefore, a bigger push to concealed rangehoods is likely as they blend with the kitchen ceiling and do not impose on kitchen space, unlike other island-style rangehoods.”

  1. Black glass finish

“I expect black glass to be the next most popular choice to stainless steel thanks to advancements in manufacturing technology. Ilve recently launched its black glass range to cater to this upcoming trend.”

  1. Coloured appliances

“Europe’s current trend for coloured appliances will cross over into Australian design. Consumers look for inspiration beyond common stainless steel. This trend started some years ago with bench top appliances such as kettles and toasters but will filter its way into major appliances.”

  1. Outdoor living

“The boundaries between indoor and outdoor living will become more fused than ever before and the outdoor area will be seen as an extension of the home. Therefore, consumers will be investing more into quality outdoor furniture as well as stainless steel barbecues as they are resistant to humidity, salt spray and weathering.”
