After 30 years.

Myer has farewelled 50 staff from its Orange NSW store, which closed its doors on Sunday after the company announced it would exit the store as part of its New Myer strategy. Harris Scarfe will take over the site and is expected to open in August 2018.

Myer CEO, Richard Umbers said, “These difficult but important decisions are a necessary step in the delivery of the New Myer strategy, which is designed to return Myer to profitable growth. While decisions to close stores are never easy, the process of reshaping our store network to better align with our primary customers is an essential part of the strategy. We are committed to supporting all impacted team members, and we will work with them through this process.”

Following the announcement of the store’s closure in May 2016, a Myer spokesperson confirmed that the department store would work with each impacted team member to discuss alternative employment opportunities.

“This includes possible redeployment to other Myer stores where possible, and future career opportunities with national employment provider, Talent 2, as well as assistance with resume writing and interview skills.”
