Miele-rangehood

Miele’s Black Wing Music extractor was unveiled at this week’s Living Kitchen fair in Cologne, Germany. The first-of-its-kind rangehood features invisible, integrated speakers and an amplifier for crystal clear stereo sound. Users just need to connect their smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth to listen to music from streaming services, radio stations or personal playlists.

Commenting on the new Black Wing Music rangehood was Miele co-properietor, Dr Zinkann, who told Appliance Retailer: “We believe the kitchen is more and more the centre of family life. It is a place where the family eats, where children do homework, where you sit for long periods of time. It is quite obvious that consumers also want to listen to music and often they have wireless speakers which take up bench top space. Therefore, we believe the rangehood is the ideal space to have good speakers and give sound to the kitchen”.

In terms of design and function, the new Black Wing Music is derived from its sister model, the DA 6096 W, which was launched to the market in 2014. This model is currently test winner with Germany’s leading consumer watchdog Stiftung Warentest (StiWa 3/2016), achieving top marks for air recirculation, the removal of odours and low operating sound levels. The 90cm glass canopy is inclined upwards to ensure sufficient headroom.

The canopy features two energy-efficient and long-life LED downlights and can be operated either as a vented or recirculation unit. Furthermore, the 10-ply stainless-steel grease filters ensure high-level grease extraction.
