Safety remains top priority.

Multiple airlines have prohibited the carriage of Galaxy Note7 devices on-board international and domestic flights for both carry-on and checked baggage. Airline passengers will not be permitted to take a Galaxy Note7 on a flight, either switched on or turned-off.

Samsung is urging customers who have a Galaxy Note7 to power down their phone and contact their original place of purchase for a remedy; either an exchange or full refund.

In a statement provided to Appliance Retailer, the company stated, “Samsung Australia apologises for this inconvenience. We are working with airlines and airports in Australia to arrange customer service points within high-traffic terminals where customers, who are unaware of the Galaxy Note7 ban on flights and have not yet obtained a remedy in connection with their device, can arrange an alternative device at the airport.

“These Samsung Australia customer service points can be found at Sydney Airport (Kingsford Smith Airport), Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine Airport), Brisbane Airport, Canberra Airport, Adelaide Airport, Perth Airport and Gold Coast Airport.

“These Samsung Australia customer service points at airports are open from 6am to 8pm (6am to 6pm in Canberra) and are located before security screening. Samsung Australia is continuing to work with airport authorities to set up customer service points in additional terminals.

“Globally, Samsung is providing support to Galaxy Note7 owners in as many locations as possible, including at some of the most frequently visited airports around the world. We know this ban of the Galaxy Note7 on flights is an inconvenience to our customers but safety has to remain our top priority.”
