Nine Asus products have won prestigious Good Design Awards for quality design and innovation. The Japan Institute of Design Promotion (JDP) organises the Good Design Award, which is now in its 59th year and is one of the four major design awards recognised by the International Design Alliance. This year, JDP received over 4,085 entries from around the world.
The winning products are:
Asus ZenFone 3
Built around a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) display, the ZenFone 3 smartphone provides a 77.3% screen-to-body ratio for a maximised viewing area in a slim and compact body. The front and rear of the phone are encased in scratch-resistant 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass. The ZenFone 3 is equipped with a Sony IMX298 sensor 16MP camera with an Asus TriTech autofocus system that automatically selects laser, phase detection, or continuous autofocus.
Asus ZenView 3 Flip Cover
This has been designed to protect the display of the ZenFone 3 from scrapes and scratches with a stylish, embossed leather design with rear etching for added grip. Users can see information such as incoming calls or notifications, without having to open the case.
Asus ZenWatch 3
A stylish and customisable wearable device powered by Android Wear, it provides users with timely information at a glance, and a full-featured activity tracker. Its round case is accented by a thin, rose-gold bezel for a sophisticated look inspired by the corona of an annular solar eclipse. ZenWatch 3 is just 9.95mm thin with the case meticulously fashioned from jewellery-grade 316L stainless steel.
Asus ZenBeam E1 and E1Z projectors
The ZenBeam E1 and ZenBeam E1Z are differentiated by their connectivity options. The ZenBeam E1Z is an Android and Windows-compatible USB projector, designed to work seamlessly with the ZenFone and ZenPad. The ZenBeam E1 has HDMI/MHL output for compatibility with a wide range of video streaming, console gaming and mobile devices.
Asus Designo Curve MX Series
The latest generation of Designo Curve MX Series monitors includes the Asus Designo Curve MX34VQ, a 34-inch curved monitor with a frameless 1800R curvature 3440 x 1440 ultra-wide QHD panel. It features 8-watt stereo speakers incorporating Harman Kardon and Asus SonicMaster audio technologies, as well as a Qi wireless charging pad on its stand for Qi-enabled devices.
Asus Vivo Mini VC65 Series
The world’s smallest mini PCs, with support for up to four 2.5-inch SSD or HDD storage devices and RAID functionality, making them ideally suited as NAS devices or mini-server systems. The modular design of these PCs accepts a total of three modules, so they can be configured with two additional storage drives, dual storage drives and an optical disc drive, or four storage drives.
Asus VivoBaby
A complete and versatile baby monitor with smart functionality, including continuous monitoring and tracking of the baby’s skin temperature, heart rate and sleep activity. The monitor sends instant warnings, via the included wireless docking station, to a smartphone app if there is a sudden rise in the baby’s body temperature or drop in its heart rate.
Asus ZenBook 3
The Asus ZenBook 3 has been completely redesigned with an ultra-sleek 11.9 mm chassis that weighs only 910g. It is available in three exclusive colours, Royal Blue, Rose Gold and Quartz Grey, and a special two-phase anodizing process was used to create the golden highlights on its diamond-cut edges.
Asus ZenBook Flip UX360UA
The laptop, which is only 13.9mm thick and weighs just 1.3kg, has a stepless 360 degree hinge that allows it to be used as a traditional touchscreen laptop, a convenient tablet or any option in between. ZenBook Flip has an Intel Core i7 processor, up to a 512GB SSD and 16GB RAM. It also offers an ergonomic backlit keyboard with full-size keys and the battery lasts up to 12 hours between charges.
Asus Chromebook C202
A lightweight, ruggedised Chrome OS computer for education. Featuring two strategically placed grips to provide better traction, a comfortable, spill-resistant keyboard and reinforced rubber-wrapped protective guards. Chromebook C202 delivers an anti-glare display and up to 10 hours of battery life for a full school day on a single charge.
