Expected to open in December.

Stockland has unveiled a major refresh of The Pines Shopping Centre in Melbourne, including the first transformation of a Target to Kmart store in Victoria.

The Pines also reopened a redeveloped and reconfigured new look Aldi, which will expand by approximately 110 square metres, scheduled to be completed and opened by late-November. New features of the revamped Aldi supermarket include redesigned shelving, expanded wooden produce bays with a greater breadth of fresh produce as well as extended energy efficient chillers.

As part of Wesfarmers’ strategic refresh and bid to consolidate the ailing Target department stores, the existing Target store at The Pines will be converted into a new look Kmart.

To make way for the new look Kmart, internal works inside the Target store commenced on Sunday. Target will remain open and trading up until Sunday 9 November. However some stock lines will not be refreshed and services including lay-by will no longer be available. The new Kmart store is expected to officially open in early December 2016.

CEO of commercial property, John Schroder said, “We are very excited to welcome Kmart to Stockland The Pines in time for Christmas. This new store will complement the current retail offer and provide shoppers with a great range of products across home, entertainment, clothing and toys at everyday low prices.”

“We are proud to be bringing new fashions, tastes and entertainment retailers to The Pines to offer our customers an even better retail experience. The calibre of new brands that have recently opened their doors, or will soon begin trading, is exceptional and will be a great addition to our current stable of retailers at the centre.”

“We also continue to invest in improving the shopping centre experience with internal centre refurbishments and amenity upgrades underway, to make shopping more convenient and comfortable for our customers,” he added.
