To celebrate 20 year online anniversary.

New Zealand supermarket chain, Countdown has marked 20 years since introducing online shopping by partnering with Samsung to launch a new initiative.

The partnership with Samsung involves the launch of the ‘Family Hub Refrigerator’. Customers can place their order straight from a fridge via a Wi-Fi enabled touchscreen, or receive a photo each time the fridge door is closed, to be aware of the goods in short supply.

Countdown head of online, Sally Copland said, “We pushed the boundaries in 1996 when we started with 100 online trial customers, and we’re continuing to push boundaries and innovate in the online shopping space today for the same reason.”

“With the introduction of services such as click & collect in every Countdown store nationwide and the future of online shopping with collaborations like the new Samsung Family Hub Refrigerator, we continue to lead and improve the online shopping experience for New Zealanders,” she said.

Countdown will be showcasing the Samsung Family Hub Refrigerator at select locations in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch over the next month, including the Auckland Food Show.

Samsung Australia was not able to provide comment on the partnership.
