While some saw no affect.

RT Edwards Strathpine, located approximately 24km north of Brisbane, was only visited by customers seeking refuge from the wet weather, salesperson, Benjamin Lee told Appliance Retailer.

“We weren’t busy at all but we are hoping for business as usual this week as the rain clears.”

Ted’s Cameras Brisbane City also experienced a significant downturn in foot traffic, according to salesperson, Bruce Bownan.

“Thankfully, aside from the lack of customers, we did not have any issues with power outages or water leaks.”

Webbers Retravision in North Rockhampton was also hard hit with only a handful of customers that came through the doors on Sunday, despite being over 500km from Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

“Primarily, the customers that came in were from out of town and just passing through. Unfortunately, they were after products that we don’t even stock, so sales were significantly down.

“We also had some trouble with power with the lights flicking on and off, but we expect trade to return to normal now that the rain has stopped and the sun has made its way out.”

Meanwhile, Knudsen’s Betta Home Living in Virginia, approximately 17km north of Brisbane, did not see any affect from the wet weather, according to salesperson Darryl Cox.

“Store traffic was as per usual and there were no flooding or road blocks around us.”

Shepherd’s Retravision in Gympie, approximately 80km from the Sunshine Coast, does not open for trade on Sundays. However, proprietor, Glenn Shepherd was called in to the store at midnight due to a water leakage after 100mm of rain fell in just 12 hours, which affected the store’s power, alarms and phone box.

“The rain is predicted to slow this week, so we don’t expect any impact on trade in the coming days.”

Most surprisingly, RT Edwards Oxley, approximately 15km south-west of Brisbane, was “extremely busy”, particularly with only three sales staff rostered on Sunday, according to salesperson Tim Egan.

“Customers were buying products across the board, from new TVs to washing machines, which really pushed our sales figures upward for the day.”
