More stores in the pipeline.
2nds World is expanding interstate and opening its first store in Melbourne (pictured below) in the Mentone Homemaker Centre, opposite Australia’s largest Bunnings store. The grand opening will be held this weekend with a number of opening specials across its product offering.
2nds World managing director, Peter Hammerman told Appliance Retailer, “The Melbourne market is very similar in size to Sydney so it was logical for us to expand there. The store will serve as our online warehouse as well, as we have many Victorian customers and now have a warehouse/store for click and collect and cost effective distribution centre.”
“Many suppliers suggested that we open in Melbourne as the cost of transporting products to Sydney is expensive, and therefore offers opportunity for them to save costs.
“There is a strong demand for our style of business in Melbourne and we are looking forward to giving Melbournians access to the same savings Sydneysiders have enjoyed for more than 35 years,” he added.
The 1,500 square metre store will be very similar in format and layout to the Sydney stores in Auburn, Castle Hill, Caringbah, Cremorne, and Penrith.
Hammerman said his goal is to open another two Sydney stores and plans to open a number of stores in Melbourne in the future, while stores in other states are “on the horizon”.
