Swiss household appliance maker V-Zug held an exclusive media event at its Melbourne showroom on Wednesday. Guests could see for themselves products that have made this 100-year old company one of the leaders in premium appliances for the kitchen and laundry.

V-Zug was first to introduce the combi-oven and the highly efficient heat-pump technology to a dryer, washing machine and now a dishwasher. There was also a preview of a new gas cooktop range being released in July.

The range features slider touch technology for more precise cooking and easy navigation at the touch of a finger with melt, simmer and keep warm functions. A pause button prevents boil over when cooking is interrupted automatically reducing power to a keep warm level for a maximum of 10 minutes. A wipe protection function can be used at any time without adjusting power levels. The range comprises a wok burner, double burner and four and five burner models and all zones come with a brass burner and black enamelled pan holders.

Sales and marketing director, Mark Tragear (pictured left), introduced renowned chef Scott Pickett (pictured right) who took guests on a personal culinary journey transforming home-style recipes into restaurant dishes using the appliances.

“We are all about the customer”, Tragear, told AR, “our mission is to deliver the best service to help them make the right choices when it comes to kitchen and laundry appliances.”

“Customers clearly like what they see with a 90% success rate from customers visiting the showroom”, he said. Sydney will have the opportunity to take in the V-Zug collection within a new showroom space opening in 2017.

Tragear said sales have grown and the company has not encountered any price resistance.  “We offer a unique proposition that is different to everyone else including 116 cooking guides across all our cooking range and our $3,000 oven looks the same as the $11,000 oven.”

V-Zug has also developed a strong working relationship with a number of chefs including Pickett and Jacques Reymond along with boutique wineries as well as partnering with Audi for a series of corporate events.

The endorsement from Scott Pickett is a first for the chef who runs three restaurants in Melbourne. He told AR, V-Zug is a top end product: “a professional oven in a domestic situation so home cooks can get the best results. It’s all about precision cooking.” He is a firm believer that you get what you pay for and the cheapest is normally not the best.
