Introduces new TV range to capitalise on sales.

Sony Australia has predicted that sales of televisions could jump by up to 20% in the lead-up to the Rio Olympics which will take place on 5-21 August.

The prediction was made in an exclusive interview conducted by Appliance Retailer with Sony Australia, product manager – TV, James Hand (pictured).

“While we can’t predict with any certainty what will happen, historically, we’ve see an increase of approximately 15-20 per cent in TV purchases before major sporting events like the one coming up.” Hand said.

To capitalise on this increase in sales, Sony has recently introduced in new range of televisions to the market.

In the X85D Series, there are four new models:

  • The 55-inch model, launched in late April retailing for $2,999
  • The 65-inch model, launched in late April retailing for $4,499
  • The 75-inch model, scheduled to be launched in early May and is expected to retail for $7,499
  • The 85-inch model, scheduled to be launched in late June and is expected to retail for $14,999

In the X93D Series, there are two new models:

  • The 55-inch model launched in late April retailing for $3,999
  • The 65-inch model launched in late April retailing for $5,999

In the X94D Series, the 75-inch model is scheduled to be launched in early June and is expected to retail for $8,999.
