Retail giant loses Apple TV unit to shoplifter.

A man stole an Apple TV from Harvey Norman in Maryborough, north of Brisbane, Queensland, last week. News reports quoted Maryborough police Senior Constable David Webber saying the man took the unit from the display shelf and put in it in a red shopping bag before leaving the store.

Apple TV is a device that plugs into a TV or HDTV enabling users to watch movies or TV series, view photos and other media from other devices or the internet. The second and third generation models do not have an internal hard disk so therefore content can only be played over a home network. Apple TV has been designed to work seamlessly with Mac computers, iPads and iPhones.

Webber said the man was described as Caucasian in his mid to late 20s, about 180cm tall with fair complexion and a fat build.

The man was wearing denim shorts and a beige shirt and had a goatee. He was carrying a backpack and a shopping bag, seen walking along Bazaar Street.

This incident follows the news of associate of former bikie enforcer, Toby Mitchell, being jailed over a heist in which flat-screen televisions valued at about $200,000 were stolen from Harvey Norman in Chadstone shopping centre in 2013.
