Mitsubishi Electric’s executive director Jeremy Needham will be promoted to managing director, effective 16 June 2015. Needham replaces the current managing director of two years, Takeshi Shihonmatsu, who will be taking on a new role in Tokyo.

“I have had a very enjoyable and rewarding experience leading the Australian company through a period of strong growth over the last two years,” Shihonmatsu said. “It gives me great pleasure to announce that my successor will be Mr Jeremy Needham. Jeremy has been working with Mitsubishi Electric Australia for 27 years, managing various divisions such as Railways, Power, Automotive and Factory Automation, and for the last year he has been leading the Living Environment Group. I am confident that Mitsubishi Electric Australia will continue to prosper under Jeremy’s direction and the experienced management team.”

Needham has a mechanical engineering background and has held various engineering and management roles within Mitsubishi Electric Australia where he has worked across all of the business units.

“The strong results in the last financial year from both Mitsubishi Electric Australia and Mitsubishi Electric Cororation (Japan) mean that we are exceptionally well positioned to face the challenges and changes required to compete and grow across all the markets in which we operate,” Needham said. “I would like to thank Mr Shihonmatsu for the great condition in which he leaves Mitsubishi Electric Australia and look forward to working with our management team, our employees and our partners to continue the sustainable growth which has been a hallmark of our business over the years.”

Needham said Mitsubishi Electric products are performing strongly in Australia and they “expect to introduce more products in the short term with the same characteristics of high quality and reliable performance that are core traits of the Mitsubishi Electric brand.”
