Fisher & Paykel recalls selected DishDrawer dishwashers

By Claire Reilly

Fisher & Paykel has issued a recall on selected models from its DishDrawer dishwasher range, due to the potential for the products to cause a mild electric shock.

According to a notice issued on the ACCC website, the recall affects single and double drawer dishwashers with model numbers DS603 and DD603, and serial numbers starting with the letters B, C, D, E, L, M, R, or U. The products were sold nationally between 1 August 2000 and 31 December 2007.

“In rare circumstances, foreign matter such as broken glass or crockery may create an internal water leak,” the recall notice read. “This has the potential to conduct a very low electric current to any water remaining in the dishwasher. The consumer may experience a mild electric shock from water remaining in the machine.”

While the recall noted that a mild electric shock was the “maximum potential hazard” that users may experience, consumers are still being directed to Fisher & Paykel to resolve the issue.

“Consumers should contact Fisher & Paykel Appliances…to register the model number, the serial number and their contact details. If it is the model and serial number affected by this potential problem, Fisher & Paykel will offer the consumer the opportunity to have the problem resolved at no cost.”

“The consumer can continue to use the dishwasher safely in the meantime. If a water leak occurs, an ‘F2’ fault will appear in the display or the machine will beep continuously. The dishwasher should then be switched off at the powerpoint and Fisher & Paykel Appliances should be notified.”

Consumers can register their product on Fisher & Paykel’s dedicated recall website, by emailing specialist.team@fisherpaykel.com or by calling 1300 920 458 between 8am – 5pm, Monday to Friday.

I am trying to find out if the recall for DS603 ser# 88270 BKM724092 is still in effect and if so what do i need to do, I am having an issue with water accumulating in the drawer that was not just used. Always water ends up in the drawer we did not use. So if we run the top drawer then the bottom drawer ends up with a couple inches of water and likewise if we run the bottom drawer we end up with a couple inches of water in the top drawer.

My dishwasher falls within range. It is the middle of the night and I have an F3 error code displaying on the bottom drawer, the top drawer is dead and the dishwasher is giving off heat.

I can’t get the dishwasher out to turn off the power. Is there a fire hazartd here?

I don’t have the recalled model, I have a DD605H and it has an F2 fault on it. The little motor was seized so I’ve exchanged the motor on the bottom drawer but I can’t reset the dishwasher, it is stuck on the rinse mode even though that mode is working perfectly. How do I reset it so that I have the top drawer working at least until I replace the defective motor.

    Regards,
    Morgan
